Description
Al Capone
Original UPI Press Photograph, Chicago, c. 1931
Original vintage glossy press photograph, 8 × 10 inches, depicting the notorious criminal figure Al Capone seated in a Chicago courtroom, circa 1931. The image captures Capone at one of the key moments of his public life — during the trials that marked the climax of his criminal career.
On the reverse is the original “UPI / Bettmann” label, along with a photocopy of the news caption dated February 25, 1931, confirming the journalistic origin and archival authenticity of the photograph.
Condition — fine: minor defect with a trimmed corner at the lower left, typical for press photographs actively used in editorial offices.
The photograph is professionally encapsulated and certified by PSA as an authentic Type II photograph — a later vintage print made from the original negative, approximately in the 1980s.
Provenance:
Marc and Mary Perkins Collection.
The photograph is framed along with a quote by Al Capone:
"I'll give three dozen of my thugs for one man who can solve problems by talking."
