He was known as one of the most powerful punchers in boxing history and is often referred to as the "Black Panther". Shavers had a professional boxing career from 1969 to 1983, with many fights and many victories. Of his 74 victories, 23 were by knockout in the first round. Ernie Shavers became widely known for his punch, which was considered one of the most powerful in boxing history. He had many fights, including against such famous singers as Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes. His fight with Larry Holmes in 1979 remains one of the most memorable events of Shavers' career.
