Description
Certified Authentic autograph pictured, framed with Original 1911 Playbill (C 247). (1854-1934). Ukrainian and Soviet actress. In 1906, Maria Zankovetskaya participated in the creation of the first Ukrainian stationary theater in Kyiv, and in 1918 - the People's Theater in Kiev (now the Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Maria Zankovetskaya in Lviv). Once Kropivnitsky’s troupe brought the performances “Nazar Stodolya” and “Like Sausage and Glass” to St. Petersburg. Emperor Alexander III and his family attended the performance. At the end of the speech, he said: “I wish to see you again!” The Tsar promised “golden buckets, a golden yoke” for “Natalka Poltavka” - 24 thousand in gold and the same pension. The Ukrainian actress did not agree to the proposal. “I love her, my Ukraine, and her theater too much to accept your offer,” Zankovetskaya refused.
