Description
The art object “Strike”, created in 2021 as part of the Memorabilia Art project, combines an authentic autograph of Muhammad Ali with a unique historical artifact — a boxing gong.
At the center is a vintage Bendix Marine Productions gong, signed by Muhammad Ali in 1979 in black marker. The autograph serves as the key element, adding significant historical and collectible value.
The gong is integrated into a sculptural composition with a surface that evokes the marks of thousands of strikes, symbolizing the boxer’s journey. The copper-toned texture enhances the sense of time and physical intensity embedded in the object.
Lighting reveals the relief, while the sound of the gong becomes part of the experience, transforming the piece into a multi-sensory artwork.
The work elevates a sports artifact into a conceptual art object, where Ali’s autograph becomes a symbol of strength, endurance, and the era of great boxing.
