Description
This unique artifact, an authentic letter signed by Napoleon Bonaparte and dated December 29, 1811, is a true relic that opens up a fascinating world of history. In the document, written on behalf of the Emperor of France and signed with his characteristic monogram “Np”, Napoleon addresses his Minister of War, the Duke of Feltre, General Henri-Jacques Guillaume Clark, with an important order.
The originality of the signature is confirmed by certificates of authenticity, and an additional examination was also conducted, which is confirmed by Expert Opinion No. 2726. Photos of the expert opinion are attached, which are additional evidence of the authenticity of this historical document.
In order to verify the age of the document, an analysis of the paper and ink was conducted. The results of the examination confirmed that the paper and ink correspond to the first half of the 19th century, which coincides with the date indicated in the document. The study of the materials included X-ray fluorescence analysis of the ink composition and comparison of the paper structure with dated samples from the same period.
The letter outlined a detailed plan for providing 800 workers with the necessary tools and resources to work on the ship's garrisons. It also mentions the organization of containers, docks, and even horses for transportation. A loose translation of the letter reads as follows:
"It seems to me advisable that the Marine Corps, which has many resources, should provide the necessary tools for the workers, containers, and also a dock. Please send me a report letting me know what tools are needed for the 800 workers, how many containers and of what type. Finally, how many horses are needed. After that, I pray God that He may grant you the Holy Guard."
This letter vividly demonstrates Napoleon's strategic approach to managing resources and organizing France's military power. It testifies to his desire to control the most minute details of the important aspects of logistics necessary to maintain military power.
