Authentic certified autograph of Dumas Alexandre Batka (1802-1870) French writer whose works include The Three Musketeers. A.L.S., AL. Dumas, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., by M. Porsche, in French. Dumas sends a message to his correspondent explaining what he has decided about the tickets for the performances, stating `Mon cher Porcher, ....demande qu´au lieu d´être endosseur vous fassiez les billets à mon ordre, c´est exactement la même chose puisque je les paierai: faites-moi donc les billets - en billets pas en lettres de change - pour Janvier, Février, Mars et Avril...´ (Translation “My dear Porsche, ....I am asking for this in return acting as endorser, you issue passes in my own name, it is exactly the same, because I will pay for them: therefore make me these passes—as passes, not as bills of exchange—for the months of January, February, March, and April... ») To the postscript, under his signature with a bright initial, Dumas adds "Un journal annonce que je fais une pièce pour la Gaité" (Translation: "The diary announces that I am working on a dramatist for La Gaité") With a blank whole sheet .VG

La Gaité was a former Parisian theater company founded in 1759 on the Boulevard du Temple until it moved to the rue Papin in 1862.
