Description

Certified Authentic Autograph in the book. Walter Olson (1954) is a senior fellow at the Robert A. Levy Center for Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute and is known for his work on law, public policy, and regulation. His first book, The Litigation Explosion, was one of the most widely discussed law books of its time. This led the Washington Post to call him the "intellectual guru of tort reform." Since then, his books have sparked debate on topics ranging from employment law to mass litigation to the state of law schools. He is known as the founder and main author of the longest-running law blog, Overlawyered, which ran from 1999 to 2020. He has advised many public officials from city councils to the White House and is active in public affairs in his home state of Maryland, where he was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to co-chair a commission aimed at ending the practice of gerrymandering. He is frequently interviewed about his experience with elections and redistricting law.

Before joining Cato, Olson worked at the Manhattan Institute and the American Enterprise Institute and was an editor for the journal Regulation, then edited by Antonin Scalia. More than 400 appearances by Olson on the air of most major media, BBC and Oprah.
