From 1978 to 1988 he played for the Edmonton Oilers club, with whom he won the Stanley Cup four times. In the National Hockey League, where Gretzky earned the nickname "The Great One," he set 61 records and won numerous individual League awards (including nine Most Valuable Player awards and 10 Season Top Scorer awards). He was one of the 5 athletes who lit the flame of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
