Description

An autograph of British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, presented in a composition dedicated to his 2015 spy film “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” The director’s signature is displayed on the film poster alongside a portrait of Ritchie. Starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander and Hugh Grant, the film reimagined the celebrated 1960s television series for the cinema.

In “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” Ritchie returned to the visual language of classic Cold War espionage cinema, retaining the 1960s setting and building the story around the unlikely partnership between CIA agent Napoleon Solo and KGB operative Illya Kuryakin. Period tailoring, automobiles, European locations and music were integral to the distinctive visual identity Ritchie created for the film.

Guy Ritchie’s original autograph appears directly on the film poster and is presented alongside his portrait in an artist-designed presentation. A metal plaque bears the director’s statement, “You can keep rewriting the rulebook on cool,” a remark Ritchie made in 2015 while discussing the nature of style and his approach to “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”

Bringing together the director’s signature, portrait and imagery from the film, the composition forms a coherent collectible object associated with one of Ritchie’s most visually distinctive works. It has particular relevance to collections devoted to film autographs, contemporary British cinema and auteur filmmaking. The authenticity of the signature is confirmed by an international certificate of authenticity.
