Description

Autograph of Ivan Pavlov — Russian physiologist, Nobel Prize laureate, and one of the most influential figures in the history of medical science. This fragment of a handwritten letter is dated 1876 and belongs to the early period of Pavlov’s life while he was studying at the Imperial Medical-Surgical Academy in Saint Petersburg.

The document contains the upper section of an official petition written in ink in Cyrillic and bearing Pavlov’s autograph. The text reads: “To His Excellency, the Director of the Imperial Medical-Surgical Academy, from third-year medical student Ivan Pavlov.” It was during these formative academic years that Pavlov began developing as a researcher within the Academy’s physiology laboratories.

The fragment preserves the formal academic style of official correspondence from the Russian Empire in the second half of the nineteenth century. Early Pavlov documents of this nature appear far less frequently than later scientific material and hold particular interest for collectors focused on historical autographs, medicine, and Nobel Prize figures.

Combining a personal autograph with direct academic context from Pavlov’s student years, the document carries strong historical and archival character. It is well suited for collections devoted to the history of science, medicine, and major scientific personalities of the modern era.

The document is accompanied by certificates of authenticity from RR Auction, Global Authentics, and University Archives, further confirming its historical provenance and collection value.
