Leonid Bessarab was born in 1936 in the Vinnytsia region, Ukraine. After graduating from a republican art school, he continued his studies at the Kyiv Art Institute. Between 1965 and 1969, he taught at the Khmelnytskyi Technological Institute. Since 1983, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. His works are held in museums and private collections, including the Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum.
