Description
The sculpture “Animus and Anima”, created in 2023, is executed in mixed media: chamotte, modeling, and ceramic glaze. The work engages with Jungian psychology, exploring the dual structure of the human psyche through archetypal forms.
The terms anima and animus, introduced by Carl Gustav Jung, refer to the feminine and masculine aspects within the psyche. Anima represents the feminine dimension within the male psyche, while animus reflects the masculine aspect within the female psyche. Both are universal and largely unconscious archetypes.
The sculpture visualizes this internal dialogue through the interaction of forms. Rather than opposing each other, the elements are integrated into a unified composition. The material and surface treatment enhance the tension while preserving a sense of balance.
The work functions as a conceptual reflection on the equilibrium between rational and intuitive, masculine and feminine, conscious and unconscious dimensions of human identity.
