Description
The sculpture “Jesus and Judas”, created in 2023, is executed in mixed media: chamotte, modeling, and ceramic glaze. The work addresses one of the central archetypes of Western culture — the tension between faith and betrayal, purity and fall.
The composition reinterprets a well-known story associated with Leonardo da Vinci during the creation of The Last Supper. According to the legend, Leonardo struggled to find models for Christ and Judas. He first selected a young choir singer for Christ, and years later found a man broken by life to depict Judas — only to realize it was the same person.
This narrative becomes the conceptual core of the sculpture: Christ and Judas are not opposites, but two states within a single human nature. The work reflects on the fragility of moral choice and the transformative potential of human experience.
The material and surface emphasize the emotional tension while maintaining a symbolic and universal form.
The sculpture functions as a conceptual reflection on the duality of human nature and is intended for a viewer seeking depth and meaning.
