Description
The sculpture “Past and Future”, created in 2023, is executed in mixed media: chamotte, modeling, and ceramic glaze. The work explores the relationship between two fundamental dimensions of human experience — memory and anticipation.
The past appears as a space that cannot be altered or fully accessed. It transforms within consciousness, acquiring new meanings over time. Yet it continues to shape the individual, influencing perception and identity. As Vladimir Nabokov observed, nothing restores a memory as vividly as a scent.
The future, in contrast, exists as a space of expectation and hope. It has no fixed form, yet it is already present as a feeling — a quiet call, an inner dialogue with what is yet to come.
The sculpture brings these two states together, emphasizing their inseparability. Human identity emerges between memory and anticipation, shaped by both.
The work functions as a conceptual reflection on time as an internal human experience.
